Charleston Industrial Coatings was founded in 2016. We believe that the success of the company is doing work based on best practice for the application focusing on quality and at a price point that makes sense for our customers. We continue to work with those goals in mind and bring that to all the coating work we do.
This is a family oriented business. We work to grow the business partnering with our customers with new products and services continually.
We started with sandblasting and powder-coating and added polyurea coating in 2017.
In 2020, CDID has purchased the organization. We have added pre-treatments for ferrous and non-ferrous materials, fabrication for customer specific applications, assembly and kitting of coated items, part ink stamping and other commercial, industrial and defense oriented processes.
Our Core: Quality, Abrasive Blasting, Pre-treatments, Chemical Conversion Coatings, Powder Coating, Liquid Coatings, Polyurea Coatings.

Abrasive blasting and powder-coating is what we started with, and we continue to offer the highest quality and best value powder-coating in Charleston!
We work with manufacturing partners for production work, but also do many smaller projects such as automotive, fence and railings, and anything else needing a strong finish. These finishes have multiple textures and colors available.
Blasting
Abrasive blasting is how we prefer to prep metal for coating. All parts must be free of oils, grease, and soils before being blasted. Blasting these parts also increases surface area, helping to increase adhesion of the powder-coating.
We can also phosphatize steel parts after blasting to provide the maximum surface prep for those parts placed under extreme conditions. Non-ferrous items can be chemically converted for maximum adhesion and durability.
Powder-Coating
Powder coating is a highly durable scratch and chemical resistant finish that also provides excellent corrosion protection.
Applied with an electro-static charge, powder coating can be applied atop bare metal, anodized metal, chrome, and existing powder coat.
It is then placed inside our 20'x8'x8' natural gas industrial sized oven and baked between 300 and 420 degrees. The powder gels or “melts” and goes through a hardening and chemical reaction. Once cured, it is left out to cool and hardens into a beautiful, tough and durable coating that will protect your parts for many years.
Polyurea coating is formed when an isocyanate blend reacts with water or a polyetheramine to create a urea linkage.
Polyurea is a 2-part component that mixes under high pressure and heat. The resin is mixed with a catalyst to create a curing reaction responsible for hardening the material. This is done with specialized equipment that can apply the various polyureas at our shop.
Polyurea has an elongation rate that exceeds 300% making it far more flexible than epoxy, which can be important in flooring, military applications, and other high impact circumstances. Also, for this reason, it’s an ideal coating for industrial pipes, spray-on bed liners and fillers for joints like concrete.
Polyurea cures very quickly, allowing the space to be used much sooner than with other types of coatings. Polyurea resists corrosion, resists abrasion, absorbs impact (military applications as example), and water proofing.
